Varnville, South Carolina - Our beloved, Virginia Moore Doctor, the daughter of the late Hammie Moore, Sr. and the late Desser L. Council was born March 9, 1930 in Hampton County, SC. She departed her earthly walk at her residence on Sunday, April 6, 2014, just shy of six months following the death of her beloved husband, Shellie.
She was educated in the public school of Hampton County. At an early age, she received Christ and became a member of Antioch Christian Church, D.O.C., Varnville, SC. She held several capacities as a member of the Missionary Board, Senior Choir, Kitchen Committee, and Deaconess.
She worked for a short period as a domestic aide at the former Hampton General Hospital in Varnville, SC. However, the majority of her life was spent caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included cooking and gardening; but quilting was her passion for which she will always be remembered. She was a lifetime missionary always caring for others, until her health declined.
As a teenager, she met her soul mate, Shellie Doctor. And in 1946, they were married. To this union five children were born. Two sons (Jerome and Hugh) and one grandson (Reggie), preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 6 siblings.

Hubert) Smith, Ridgeland, SC; (1) Daughter-in-law: Deloris Doctor, Varnville, SC; (2) Sisters: Betty Lee, St. Louis, IL and Pauline Davis, Varnville, SC; (1) Step-sister: Cenia Mae Buckner, Varnville, SC; (2) Brothers-in-law; Pastor Thomas (Dorothy) Doctor, Sr., Varnville, SC and a special and loyal brother-in-law, James Capers, Varnville, SC; (1) Sister-in-law, Polly Moore, Varnville, SC; (1) Special niece reared in the home; Christine Hamilton, Brooklyn, NY; (1) Special great nephew reared in the home; William Doctor, Varnville, SC; (7) Grandchildren: Larcena Davis of Varnville, SC, Stephanie Doctor of Suitland, MD, Dwana Doctor, Hampton SC, Minister Lakesha Jana (Terrele) Carey of Myrtle Beach, SC, Minister Trell (Johnnie) Terry, Tacoma WA, Dwayne (Shaconna) Doctor, Varnville, SC; Eric (Vickie) Smith, Ridgeland, SC; (13) Great grandchildren: Kevin Lofton (reared in the home), Dondre’ Brown, Carl Stevens, Dekiyah Doctor, Lauryn Doctor, Landon Doctor, Jonathan Terry, Terrele Carey, Jr., Jerome Carey, Andrew Carey, Malik Ray, Michael Ray, and Martez Ray; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
