Mrs. Ellahue Capers Buckner was born on September 27, 1931 to the late Mr. Lee Arthur Capers and Mrs. Annie Haynes. She departed this life on Friday, May 23, 2014 at her residence. She married the late Mr. Lee Buckner on September 10, 1950. She was educated in the public school system of Colleton County. At an early age she joined Toby United Methodist Church where she served in several different capacities. She worked as a Presser at Varnville Cleaners in Varnville, South Carolina. Her most profound calling was being a “Mother” and homemaker. She was a great cook and a great friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Lee Buckner, Two sons Mr. Lamar Buckner and Mr. Larry Buckner, Two sisters Ms. Vermell Capers and Ms. Earnestine Porter.
She leaves to cherish: Three Sons: Mr. Harvey (Mrs. Rosalyn) Buckner of Walterboro, South Carolina, Mr. Vernon (Mrs. Barbara) Buckner of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and Mr. Ronald (Mrs. Sheral) Buckner of Islandton, South Carolina; Three Daughters: Minister Cindy (Mr. Herman) Broughton of Ruffin, South Carolina, Ms. Kathy Buckner of Islandton, South Carolina, and Mrs. Saidell (Mr. Johnny) Moore of Islandton, South Carolina; Two grandchildren reared in the home, Ms. Sharon Broughton of Florence, South Carolina and Ms. Chandra Broughton of Miami, Florida; One daughter-in-law, Ms. Maryann Buckner of Islandton, South Carolina; One sister, Ms. Verlease Williams (Mr. Sam) of Queens, New York; One uncle, Mr. Randolph Buckner of St. George, South Carolina; One sister-in-law, Ms. Earlee Wrice of Islandton, South Carolina; Nine grandchildren; Eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
