The Obituary
Mr. Dale Capers, Sr. departed this life on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Colleton Memorial Hospital in Walterboro, South Carolina. Born to the late Laurie (Steve) and Vermell (Nell) Capers, Dale was the second oldest of five children. He was educated in Colleton County Schools graduating from Ruffin High School, and attended Denmark Technical College.
Throughout his adult life, Dale worked as a productive citizen in Colleton County at numerous occupations and most recently at Wrice’s Automotive Detail. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Alphonso Capers, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Elizabeth Black Capers of Ehrhardt, South Carolina. Sons: Dale Kareem Capers, Jr. of Ehrhardt, South Carolina; Abdul Taylor of Greensboro, North Carolina and Tyrone Taylor of Walterboro, South Carolina. His sisters: Elder Loretta Cohen (James) of Morven, North Carolina; Dr. Vanessa Nelson-Reed (Larry) of Irmo, South Carolina; and Teresa Capers of Polkton, North Carolina.
Sisters-in-law: Wilhelmena Grayson, of Queens, New York; Barbara Brunson (Morris) of Bamberg, South Carolina; Shirley Black and Linda Black of Brooklyn, NY; and Keliena Capers of Varnville, South Carolina. Brothers-in-law: Frankie Black (Monica) of Mullins, South Carolina and Stanley Black (Wanda) of Brooklyn, New York.
Grand-Aunt, Mrs. Earlee Wrice of Islandton, South Carolina. Aunts: Mrs. Verlease Williams (Sam) of Brooklyn, New York; Mrs. Martha Romey (James) of Islandton, South Carolina; Ms. Elizabeth Capers of Brooklyn, New York; and Mrs. Edith Mae Wright (Willie) of Bronx, New York. Uncle: Deacon Sam Capers (Evangelist Ivory) of Hampton, South Carolina.
Dale leaves behind 10 nieces and nephews who love him and will miss him dearly. Adding to this number are his beloved cousins from the Buckner, Porter, Wrice, Capers and extended families, classmates and friends from all walks of life. Know that you all had a special place in Dale’s life. Remember him for the heart of gold he had and celebrate his life embracing all that is good and worthy.
