Mr. Willie Walter (Joe) Grant, Jr. was born December 25, 1946 in  Varnville, South Carolina to the late Mr. Walter Grant, Sr. and Ms. Iretha D. Grant.    Joe was called from earth's toils on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South Carolina.


He was a graduate of the former North District Training School, Class of 1964, Varnville, South Carolina.  Upon graduation, Willie Walter Grant, Jr. enlisted in the United States Army from which he received an honorable discharge.  He was a member of VFW Post #7607, Fairfax, South Carolina.


He was gainfully employed by Scotsman, Fairfax, South Carolina. However, it was his love for automobiles that led to his destiny as a renowned automobile mechanic at the former Rutledge Chevrolet of Hampton, South Carolina and the former Brunson Auto Sales of Hampton, South Carolina. 


Joe’s hobbies included fishing, billiards, repairing cars and automobile racing.


Preceding him in death were two children: Tisha Grant and David Bryson.


To cherish fond memories and mourn his departure are his wife, Mrs. Mary Grant of Newark, New Jersey; (10) Children: Janice V. Bryson of Yemassee, South Carolina, Jeanette Grant and James E. Grant both of Newark, New Jersey, Jermaine Thompson of Newark, New Jersey, Shakeen Davis of Camp Branch, South Carolina, Travis Davis of Newark, New Jersey, Jamil Davis of Camp Branch, South Carolina, Kinisha Davis of Camp Branch, South Carolina, Kasheera Davis of Camp Branch, South Carolina, and Natoshia (Randall) Carter of Brookhaven, Mississippi; One sister, Barbara Rivers of Brooklyn, New York; One brother, James Rudolph Doctor of Camp Branch, South Carolina;  Two sisters-in-law, Kimberly Grant of North Carolina and Brenda Bryson of Newark, New Jersey; Three brothers-in-law: Donnell Bryson of Newark, New Jersey, Carnell Bryson of Newark, New Jersey and Johnny Bryson, Jr. of Hampton, South Carolina; Seven aunts:  Effie Lewis of Warren, Georgia, Martha Grant, Ruth Grant, and Helen Delarge all of  Dale, South Carolina, Betty Lee of St. Louis, Pauline Davis, and Polly Moore, both of Varnville, South Carolina; Two uncles: Harry Grant of Dale, South Carolina and Albert Grant of Dale, South Carolina; Twenty grandchildren: Jullanar Grant, Wyson Pascal, Fatiyah Posey, Emanuel Grant, Tajlamar Weems, and Stephanie Weems, T’sharmain Davis, Demetrius Davis, Shavonta Davis, Devonte Davis, Jayshawn Wright, Alexus Wright, Jamil Davis Jr., Randall Carter, III, Christian Wright, Jakhia Davis,  Makayla Carter, Krishoun Davis, Armoni Davis, and Jo’Vonn Pryor(who was a special grandson);  Nine great grandchildren: Davian,   Eziah , Jasira,  Quanaisha, Nasir, Nylah,  Zada, Zaniyah, and Gregory; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, which includes Mark Jones of Estill, South Carolina, Larry Capers and Andrew Lawton, both of Varnville, South Carolina and Ms. Erlene Cohen of Luray, South Carolina.
