Sister Retha M. Williams Johnson, the daughter of the late Henry Williams, Sr. and Eva M. Miller Williams, was born on April 30, 1944 in Hampton County, SC. On Monday, October 06, 2014, she entered into eternal rest at Colleton Regional Medical Center in Walterboro, SC.
At an early age, she attended and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Varnville, South Carolina. Throughout her years, she participated in different auxiliaries of the church. She was the Past President of the Missionary Auxiliary; Past President of the Senior Choir; Past President of the Pastor’s Aides Auxiliary; a member of the usher board, kitchen committee, and the Deaconess board. She was also the Past Grand Hostess of Thankful Chapter #103 Order of the Eastern Stars, Estill, SC; past Loyal Lady Ruler of Prince Hall Assembly #282 Order of the Golden Circle, Barnwell, SC and past Mother Advisor for the Mary B. Thomas Youth Girls Circle, Hampton, SC.
She was a graduate of the former North District Training School, Varnville, SC and Midlands Technical-Nursing, Columbia, SC. Sis. Johnson was employed and retired from Hampton School District One, where she served in the capacity of Food Service Manager.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby J. Johnson; one sister, Lillie J. Stephens and one brother, Henry Williams, Jr.
As we look through the pages of her life, we remember the times we shared: her gentle smile, her kind and strong spirit, her strength, and love for others, especially children, all of which shall be missed. She also loved helping and feeding others.

Johnson of Varnville, SC, Thelma Lee of Varnville, SC and Verdell Williams of Philadelphia, PA; One brother: Willie (Remell) Williams of New Port News, VA; Her father-in-law, Andrew Johnson of Cummings, SC; One great aunt-in-law Margaret (Adam) Major of Varnville, SC; Two aunts-in-law: Claudia M. Johnson-Greene and Gloria Joyner, both of Cummings, SC; Five sisters-in-law: Diane Brooker of Varnville, SC, Carolyn Johnson of Cummings, SC, Victoria (Anthony) Wright of Goose Creek, SC, Elizabeth (Leon) Walker of Cummings, SC, and Sylvia Priester of Columbia, SC; Five brothers-in-law: Thomas Priester of Columbia, SC, Chappell (Costa Lee) Johnson of Yemassee, SC, Frankie Lee Johnson of Varnville, SC, Willie H. Stephens of Islandton, SC and Cedric (Monica) Johnson of Charlotte, NC. A host of godchildren: Owillinda (Leo) Brooker; Shirley Deloach; Meredith Chappella Johnson; Robin T. Wright; Cornelius Garvin; Wynton Gray; Lee Smith; Pastor Lydell Mungin, and Pastor Cleveland Stokes; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
