Mr. Trottie Smart, Jr. died Wednesday, September 3, 2013 at his residence in Hampton, S. C.  He was born March 15, 1925 to the late Mr. Trottie Smart, Sr. and Mrs. Rebecca Carter.  Mr. Smart loved to serve people all of his life.  He served his country during World War II and the Korean War from which he received an honorable discharge.  Mr. Trottie Smart, Jr. was also the first black police officer in Allendale County, South Carolina.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his siblings: Aretha May Smart, Abe Smart, Rosa Lee Tate, Queen Gregory, Ida Smart, Edward Smart, Leberta King, and Ben Calvin Smart, Sr.

He was very active, enjoying bike riding until about four years ago!

He leaves to mourn his passing his children: Sue Williams-Custis (Norman) of Lindenwold, New Jersey; Trottie J. Smart, III of Philadelphia, PA, Henry Smart of Orlando, FLA., Linda Doctor of Varnville, SC, Scott Smart of SC, Wendy Harvey of Hampton, SC, Tawanda Smart of Datona Beach, FLA, Eric Smart (Phyllis) of Beaufort, SC, and Zac Smart of SC; A special niece, Darlene Smart of SC; Four step-children: Sandy, Morrise, Louis, and Scottie; A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
