A Life We Will Always Cherish On Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Santa Monica Convalescent Center in Santa Monica, California, God in His infinite wisdom called our dearly beloved Nancy C. Washington. She was born June 12, 1945, one of eleven siblings, to the late Trustee Ernest I. Washington, Sr., and Mrs. Maggie Roundtree Washington. Nancy was born in Blackville, Barnwell County, South Carolina. At an early age, Nancy became a baptized member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Blackville, South Carolina. She was a 1963 graduate of the former Macedonia High School of Blackville, South Carolina. Upon graduation, Nancy was employed with the Blackville Manufacturing for approximately three years. In 1966, she relocated to Los Angeles, California. Upon arrival, Nancy enrolled in Los Angeles College, where she studied Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation. She was employed with the Los Angeles Drug and Rehabilitation Clinic. Because of her faith in God and home nurturing, Nancy joined Straightway Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Charles C. Queen. She served the body of Christ as a Sunday School Teacher (thirty-five years), Praise Team (thirty years), Nursery School Teacher, Hospitality Committee (thirty-five years), Assistant Special Event Coordinator, Bereavement Committee Coordinator, and the Women Department Chaplin. Preceding Nancy in death, in addition to her parents, were her brothers: Pernell Washington and Earnell Washington. To mourn her home going are her siblings, her sisters and brothers: Ms. Emma Ruth Davis, Mrs. Cheryl Lynn (Sammie Lee) Williams, Mrs. Beverly Ann Gregg (Timothy), Ms. Cynthia Diane Washington, Mrs. Tania W. (Herbert) Smalls, Mrs. Shirley Ann (Lonnie) Reed and Mr. Ernest I. Washington, Jr., all of Blackville, South Carolina and Mr. Gerald (Elizabeth) Washington of California; (4) Aunts: Ms. Joan Hayes of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Ms. Dorothy Washington of Estill, South Carolina, Ms. Gloria Washington of Blackville, South Carolina, and Ms. Dorothy Shepherd of Augusta, Georgia; (1) Uncle, Deacon Dan Price of Barnwell, South Carolina; Her sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Washington of Blackville, South Carolina; her god-daughter, Tamia Smalls of New Ellenton, South Carolina; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
