She transitioned while inpatient at Colleton Regional Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina. Born June 15, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Mr. Ralph Simmons and Ms. Victoria McBride Simmons.

Mother Janevese Welch was educated in the public schools of Seabrook Island, South Carolina. Acknowledging Christ as Savior, she became a member of Samaritan Baptist Church, Bennetts Point, South Carolina.  At a youthful age, Mother Welch relocated to Manhattan, New York where she joined the congregation of Loyal Baptist Church located in Bronx, New York.

She was united in marriage to the late Mr. Ambrose Welch. To this union, one son was born.

While in New York, She became gainfully employed by Cobbs Corner, a material industry located in Manhattan, New York. After leaving Cobbs Corner, Mother Janevese Welch became employed by the New York Board of Education from which she retired in 1993. Upon retirement, she returned to her native homeland in Bennetts Point, South Carolina. Always abiding in the love of her home church, she reconfirmed her membership at Samaritan Baptist Church where she was named Mother of the Church.
