Committal, Final Prayer & Interment:

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer,

And saw her fade away,

Although we love her dearly,

We could not make her stay,

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands to rest,

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

He only takes the best.

At the hour of 7:43 P.M.,  Monday, July 11, 2016, God called our beloved Ms. Anna Bell Coker from labor to rest.  Anna Bell's transition at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South Carolina left her family in tears.  But we understand that God knows best.

She was born in Varnville, Hampton County, South Carolina, September 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Deacon Richard Coker and Mrs. Emma Lee Henderson Coker.

Anna Bell was educated in the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina.  At a young age, she confessed Christ and became a baptized member of Harmonia Missionary Baptist Church of the Camp Branch Community, Varnville, South Carolina.   Anna Bell attended church regularly and was known for her gentle nature and beautiful smile.  On September 13, 2009 Ms. Anna Bell Coker, along with a few other members of Harmonia, received an appreciation plaque in recognition of over fifty years of church membership.

Upon the death of her sister, Mrs. Josie Hodges, Ms. Anna Bell Coker willingly and joyfully became the mother and guardian of Jeanette, Ricky, and Claretha Hodges. Jeanette preceded her in death. Ricky and Claretha are both eternally grateful.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: Mrs. Virginia Jackson, Mrs. Josie Hodges, Ms. Gussie Mae Coker, and Mr. Howard Coker.

To mourn her home going are: One brother, Mr. Jim Eddie Coker, Sr. of Fairfax, South Carolina; Two sisters: Ms. Willie Dell Coker of Bronx, New York, and Mrs. Maretress Anthony of Brooklyn, New York. Her niece and nephew reared as her children: Mrs. Claretha Broughton and Mr. Ricky Hodges, both of Varnville, South Carolina; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives (especially a close relative, Ms. Charlotte Williams), and caring friends.
