Mrs. Laura F. Newton, 81, daughter of the late Mr. Arthur Roosevelt Frazier and Mrs. Sadie Manor Frazier, fell asleep in death on Friday, June 10, 2016 at her residence in Furman, South Carolina.

She was born in Hampton County, South Carolina July 7, 1934.  She was employed for many years in the sewing industry as a seamstress.  Her avid love for sewing continued in making wedding and prom dresses for close friends and family.

She was joined in matrimony to the late Mr. Verdell Newton.  They were happily married for forty-five years, until his death in 1996.

Mrs. Laura F. Newton was baptized in 1974 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and has served faithfully and loyally for over forty years at the Hampton Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.

To cherish her memories are three sons: Mr. Arthur Newton (Gail) of Columbia, South Carolina, Mr. Ralph Newton (Sylvia) of Jackson, South Carolina, and Mr. Alexander Newton (Valerie) of Estill, South Carolina; Twelve grandchildren; Eleven great grandchildren; Two sisters: Mrs. Eloise Wright of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mrs. Betty Jean Wilson of Savannah, Georgia; Three sisters-in-law; Numerous other relatives and friends.
