Mr. Quinton Derby Rice, son of the late Mr. George Rice and Mrs. Earlee Buckner Rice, was born in Colleton County, South Carolina on March 15, 1967. God saw fit to call him home to eternal rest on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina.
At an early age, Quinton became a member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina, where he served as past Sunday School Superintendent, worked with the Nazarene Baptist Association and the BTU Union. He served as Chairman of the Trustee Board, Kitchen Committee, and Male Chorus until his death.
Quinton was a 1985 graduate of Ruffin High School, Ruffin, South Carolina. After graduation, he served in the South Carolina National Guard. He later completed Truck Driver training at Orangeburg Technical College, Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was employed with Sims Bark (known as Woodbury Trucking), Bowman, South Carolina.
Quinton loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Sharp Shooters Hunting Club, Islandton, South Carolina.
On August 28, 1999, Quinton was joined in Holy Matrimony to the former Ms. Marilyn Stokes. They were blessed with one beautiful daughter, Cheyanne.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife, Mrs. Marilyn Rice of the home; One daughter, Ms. Cheyanne Simone Rice of the home; Two brothers: Dea. Clarence (Mrs. Janis) Rice, and Mr. Richard (Mrs. Pandrea) Rice, all of Varnville, South Carolina; Two sisters: Mrs. Clara (Dea. Allen) Williams of Cummings, South Carolina, and Mrs. Verlinda (Mr. Jerome) Moseley of Smoaks, South Carolina; His father-in-law and mother-in-law: Dea. Angus (Mrs. Rosa Lee) Stokes of Walterboro, South Carolina; One sister-in-law, Mrs. MeKesha (Mr. Allen) Herndon of Walterboro, South Carolina; His aunts and uncles: Mrs. Ruth Rice of Islandton, South Carolina, Mrs. Wilberine Rice of Kline, South Carolina, Mrs. Geneva Rice, Mrs. Willie Mae Rice, and Mrs. Missouri Rice, all of Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Julia (Mr. Palmer) Wiggins of Walterboro, South Carolina, Mrs. Edna Buckner, Mrs. Eva (Rev. John) Stephens, Mrs. Christine Scruggs, Mrs. Mary Brown, and Mrs. Luvenia (Dea. Charles) Rivers, all of Walterboro, South Carolina, Mr. JB (Mrs. Rutha Mae) Jenkins of Smoaks, South Carolina, and Dea.
