Louise Modene Washington Salley was born March 27, 1937 to Isadore Washington and Ruth Hutto Washington in Blackville, South Carolina.  Louise was called home on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Palmetto Health –Richland, Columbia, South Carolina.

Louise was educated in the Barnwell County School District where she was Class of 1955 Valedictorian. She was an active member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Blackville, South Carolina until she married and relocated to Columbia, South Carolina. Modene returned to her first love, Macedonia Missionary Baptist and became an active member of the Macedonia Pulpit Aid until her health began to fail. Modene was an active member of the Improved, Benevolent, and Protective Order of the Elks of the World (I.B.P.O.E. of W.) of Columbia, South Carolina for over forty (40) years where she held several positions. She was also Director of the George Rabb Youth Department – the youth extension of the I.B.P.O.E.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley and son, Jeffrey Leon Salley; both parents; three brothers: John Henry, Ernest Isadore and Willie James “Gene” Washington; four sisters: Isabelle Washington, Sadie Cooper, Reatha Green, and Rosa Price;.

She leaves to cherish her memory Two sons: Michael Maurice and Charles Edward Salley, both of Columbia, SC; Four daughters: Shirley Davis (James) of Irmo, SC, Carolyn Vanessa Salley-Frink (Jerrold) of Snellville, Georgia, Janis Lorraine Salley of Columbia, SC, and Alma LaVonne Rumph of Duluth, Georgia; Sixteen grandchildren; Ten great grands, and Four great-great-grands; Two daughters-in-law, Velma McLean of Columbia, SC and Rosalyn Bellinger of Columbia, SC;  Two sisters: Dorothy Washington of Blackville, SC and Joan Jessie Hayes of Orangeburg, SC; One brother-in-Law, Eartha Dan Price of Barnwell, SC; Five sisters-in-law: Gloria Washington and Mary Davis, both of Blackville, SC, Mamie “Honey” Salley of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Martha Smalls of Jacksonville, FL, and Janice  “Brownie” Salley of New York, NY, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
