The Obituary

Mr. Johnnie Clay Coker, 68, of Blackville, South Carolina, departed this life on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Assisted Living Facility, Bamberg, South Carolina.  Although he has departed from this life, our love for him remains in each of our hearts; yet, in our lives, there is an empty space where thoughts and memories of him are so very clear.  It makes us feel that he is still ever so near.

Johnnie was the son of the late Mr. Curtis Coker, Sr. and the late Mrs. Alwillie Tyler Coker.  He was born on August 7, 1946 in Blackville, Barnwell County, South Carolina.

At an early age, Johnnie joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Blackville, South Carolina; and, he was educated in the Pilgrim Rest School and Macedonia School, both of Blackville.   Johnnie was employed by the former Windy Hill Farms.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Two brothers: King Lemuel (Susie) Coker of Maywood, Illinois, and Curtis Coker, Jr. of Blackville, South Carolina; A loving cousin, James Peeples, Jr. of Pruitt Healthcare, Barnwell, South Carolina; A devoted caregiver and niece, Mary Reed of Blackville, South Carolina; And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
