Ms. Albertha Lingard Brown, following an extended illness, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Charleston, South Carolina,.

She was born July 22, 1949 in Varnville, Hampton County, South Carolina.  Albertha was the daughter of the late Mr. Sidney Lingard and Mrs. Ethel Mae Priester Lingard.

At an early age, she joined the congregation of Antioch Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Varnville, South Carolina.  She served faithfully until her health declined.  Albertha was educated in the public schools of Hampton County and had been previously employed for many years as a seamstress.

Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death: Mr. Henry Lingard, Mr. Richard Lingard, Mr. Franklin Lingard, Mr. David Cochran, and Mrs. Girlee Hudson.

Loving memories will be cherished by three sisters: Ms. Gereacher Outing, and Ms. Maggie Robinson, both of Varnville, South Carolina and Ms. Lennis Grant of Brooklyn, New York; One brother, Mr. Andrew (Iola) Lingard of Varnville, South Carolina; Two sisters-in-law: Dora Lingard, and Ms. Bernice Lingard, both of Varnville, South Carolina; Two aunts: Rosena Lingard of Varnville, South Carolina, and Ms. Lizzie Young of Barnwell, South Carolina; Her god-daughter, Ms. Christie Grant of Brooklyn, New York; A devoted friend, Mr. Jimmy Bing of Varnville, South Carolina; Her caregiver, Ms. Alicia Patterson; A host of other loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
