Reverend Robert Andrew Johnson, the son of Andrew Johnson and the late Lorine Priester Johnson was born on February 09, 1945, in Hampton County, South Carolina. On October 14, 2015, he entered into eternal rest at his home in Varnville, South Carolina.

At an early age, he attended and was baptized at Blunt Chapel C.M.E Church, Varnville, South Carolina.  In later years, he joined and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina.  At New Hope Baptist Church, Reverend Johnson was given and accepted the call of the Lord to ministry. Throughout the years, he participated in many auxiliaries of the church. 

His zeal for service led him to join Mt. Olive Lodge #466, Hampton, South Carolina.  He was the Past Grand Patron, O.E.S.; Past Grand Associate Patron, O.E.S.; Past Patron, District # 2; Past Patron, Rising Star #359; Past Co-Chair, Conference of Grand Masters; Past Master, Mt. Olive Lodge #466; Past Special Deputy, District #10; Past Special Deputy Emeritus, District #10; Past District Deputy, Holy Royal Mason; Past Most Excellent High Priest; Past Commander in Chief, Prince Hall; Consistory #282; Past Secretary Commanders of the Rite; Past Member, Low Country Doctor’s Board; Past Member, Low Country Hospital Board; Past Member, Varnville Town Council (22 yrs.); Past Moderator, Thankful Union; Executive Board Member, Old Ashley Baptist Association; founder of the RJ Youth Choir and Pastor, First Thankful Baptist Church, Estill, South Carolina.

He was a graduate of the former North District Training School, Varnville, South Carolina. He was employed and retired from the former International Paper, Hampton, South Carolina where he served as Senior Engineer. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Retha M. Johnson and one son, Bobby J. Johnson. 

As we look through the pages of life, we remember the times we shared: his gentle smile, his kind and strong spirit, his strength, and his love for others.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  A devoted son, Lloyd A. Johnson of Charlotte, NC; A daughter-in-law, Eunice L. Valentine-Johnson; One grandson, Jonathan Lloyd Johnson; And one granddaughter, Ashley Camille Johnson, all of Midlothian, VA.; His father, Andrew Johnson of Cummings, SC.; Four brothers: Thomas Priester of Columbia, SC, Chappell (Costa Lee) Johnson of Yemassee, SC, Frankie Lee Johnson  of Varnville, SC, and Cedric (Monica) Johnson of Charlotte, NC; Four sisters: Diane Brooker of Varnville, SC, Carolyn Johnson of Cummings, SC, Victoria (Anthony) Wright of Goose Creek, SC, and Elizabeth Walker of Savannah, GA; One great aunt:  Margaret (Adam) Major of Varnville, SC; Two aunts: Claudia M. Johnson-Greene and Gloria Joyner, both of Cummings, SC; Seven sisters-in-law: Hattie M. (Wallace) Priester of Allendale, SC, Sarah Harrison of Varnville, SC, Mazie Lee Terry of Charleston, SC, Delphine W. Johnson of Varnville, SC,Thelma Lee of Varnville, SC, Verdell Williams of Philadelphia, PA, and Sylvia Priester of Columbia, SC;  Four brothers-in-law: Willie H. Stephens of Islandton, SC, Leon Walker  of Cummings, SC, Willie (Remell) Williams of New Port News, VA, and John Lee of Garnett, SC;  A host of godchildren: Owillinda (Leo) Brooker, Shirley Deloach, Meredith Chappella Johnson, Robin T. Wright, Cornelius Garvin, Wynton Gray, Lee Smith, Pastor G. Lydell Mungin, and Pastor Cleveland Stokes.  Special nieces: Paulett Lee, Jannifer (Laron) Johnson and nephew, Noah-Christian Johnson; A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
