Deacon Leonard L. Mitchell, Sr.

Deacon Leonard (Lennon) Mitchell, Sr. was born in Colleton County, South Carolina on February 4, 1941. He was the son of late Richard Mitchell and the late Eva Smith Mitchell.

He was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, South Carolina. 

At an early age, Leonard Mitchell, Sr became a member of Sinai Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina. Later in life, he became a member of Saint Paul Holiness Church of Islandton, South Carolina where he was appointed a Deacon. 

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Carolyn Mitchell, and Pearlie Mae Middleton; and a brother-in-law, Harry Brabham.

Leonard passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2015 at his residence. This has left a deep void in the hearts of his devoted family and friends.  

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Betty M. Mitchell of the home; Six Daughters: Carolyn (Otis) Bradley of Fairfax, SC, Delores (Willie) Charlton of Allendale, SC, Linda Mitchell of the home, Marie (Kennard) Warren of Varnville, SC, Geneva (Eugene) Kirkland of Hampton, SC, and Tonya Mitchell of the home;  Six Sons: Robert (Teresa) Cochran of Nixville, SC, Jimmy Mays of Brooklyn, NY, Leonard (Wakeisha) Mitchell, Jr. of the home, Stephen (Rebecca) Mitchell of Varnville, SC, Brian Mitchell of the home, and Brad (Caniesha) Mitchell of Lexington, MA; Five sisters: Rumell Capers of Varnville, SC, Janell  Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY,  Laverne (Willie James)  Capers  of Varnville, SC,  Annie (Robert)  Garvin of Varnville, SC, and Lynette (Arvin) Harley of Varnville, SC;  Two Sisters-in-law:   Katheleen Roden and Peggy Ann Brabham, both of Varnville, SC; Three brothers-in-law: Marvin (Elaine) Brabham of Fort Mill, SC, James Henry (Mary) Brabham, and Thomas (Cassandra) Brabham, all of Columbia, SC; Twenty-six Grands; Twenty-two Great-grands; A host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and friends, which includes a loving church family.
