Deacon Willie James McBride, son of the late Mr. Eugene McBride and Mrs. Elease Fitts McBride, was born February 26, 1927 in Varnville, Hampton County, South Carolina.  

He departed this life on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers, New York. 

Deacon McBride was educated by the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina. As a young man, he relocated to Mount Vernon, New York where he was employed as a cook and head chef of Iona College of New Rochelle, New York.  He also was employed as a bus driver for thirty-five (35) years. 

In New York, he became a member of White Rock Baptist Church, Mount Vernon, New York where he was ordained a Deacon.  After leaving White Rock Baptist Church, he became the founder and chairman of the Deacon’s Ministry at Gethsemane Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, New York.  In 1981, Deacon McBride decided to move on from Gethsemane Baptist Church and became a member of Corinth Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, New York.  At Corinth Baptist Church, he was under the leadership of Reverend James Dennis; he served as Chairman of the Deacon’s Ministry. 

He was married to Deaconess Elease McBride.  From this union, they were blessed with five children.  He was preceded in death by a son, Willie T. McBride and a daughter, Relma Gordon. 

Left to cherish loving and everlasting memories are: His wife, Deaconess Elease McBride; His sons: Randolf and Franklyn (Lula) McBride; A daughter, Cynthia McBride; Many grandchildren; Great grandchildren; Great great grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
