Mrs. Rosa “Frilly” Campbell was born December 3, 1954 in Varnville, Hampton County, South Carolina to the late Tommy Smith and Maggie Jenkins Smith. 

Rosa closed her eyes and entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Providence Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.   She was surrounded by her loving family as she transitioned.

Rosa was educated in the public schools of Varnville, South Carolina.  Upon confession of her faith, she became a baptized member of Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church of Varnville, South Carolina, where she served dutifully as an Usher Board Member, Senior Member, and a leader on the Samaritan Kitchen Committee.

Before retirement, Rosa was gainfully employed as the lead dietician for Hampton County School District One, Varnville Elementary, where she worked for over thirty years.

She was united in marriage to Roy Lee Campbell, who preceded her in death.  Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a granddaughter, little Miss Shadian A. Campbell; and one brother, Paul Eric Smith; and one sister, little Miss Margaret Smith.

Mourning her passing, cherishing her memories, and carrying on her legacy are three daughters: Chandra (Status) Hamilton of Charlotte, North Carolina, Audrey (Calvert) Steel of Beaufort, South Carolina, and DeKota (Jermaine) Shiver- her caregivers- of Columbia, South Carolina; One step-son, Elder Curtis Capers of Varnville, South Carolina; Thirteen grandchildren: DeAudreana (Dede), Iceland, Jalen, Shadiamond, Tramelle, Cayden, Autumn, Nykerria, Jermaine Jr., Aniyah, CJ, Trey, and Caleisha; One great grand, Amelia; Three sisters: Mae Frances Smith, Ada (CW) Capers, and Linda (Donnell) Collins, all of Varnville, South Carolina; Three brothers: Tommy Smith, Jr. and Robert Smith, both of Varnville, South Carolina and Mark (Valarie) Smith of South Korea; Two special aunts and one special uncle reared as siblings: Ethel (Arthur Lee) Ruth, Sally (Leon) Allen, and Joseph (Beverly) Jenkins, all of Varnville, South Carolina; Three uncles; Two aunts; Two sisters-in-law: Vera Campbell of Varnville, South Carolina and Betsy Morris of Hardeeville, South Carolina; A devoted friend, loved as a daughter, Trina Ennis; Two loyal and devoted friends: Willie Joe Hicks and Louis Owens; A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends too numerous to name.
