Clarence Henderson, Jr., after a brief illness, rested in the knowledge of a more perfect state beyond this earth! On Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his residence in the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina, Clarence welcomed that hope. Born October 16, 1954 in Hampton County, Varnville, South Carolina, Clarence Henderson, Jr. was a son of the late Reverend Clarence Henderson, Sr. and Mrs. Willie C. Henderson. Clarence, affectionately known as “June Bug”, was the fourth of nine children born to the marriage.
The Christian foundation of Biblical teaching coupled with the discipline of Christian parents led Clarence to submit his life to Christ. As a result, he became a baptized member of Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina under the pastorage of the late Reverend R. W. Wright of Allendale, South Carolina.
Clarence Henderson, Jr. was a 1972 graduate of Wade Hampton High School, Varnville, South Carolina. Upon graduation, Clarence explored the prospect of military service. After a few weeks, he returned home and began a lifelong journey into carpentry and brick masonry. Before becoming disabled, he was gainfully employed by McQuire Construction Company of Varnville, South Carolina.
He was married on December 18, 1981 to the former Eula Mae Mingo.
Having promised his father that he would not “work hard” all his life, he retired to a life of watching television! The cooking shows, old western programs, and watching football became his life. His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins!
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were two sisters, Gloria and Connie.
Remembering him in love and mourning his departure are his devoted wife of the home, Eula Mae Henderson; Four sisters: Margie Riddle, Evangelist Shirley H. Washington (Ernie), Paquillo Henderson and Aquilla Henderson, all of the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina; Two brothers: Bernard Henderson of the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina and Reverend Barrien D. Henderson of Columbia, South Carolina; Six aunts: Pauline Davis, Polly Moore, Emma Wright and Betty Henderson, all of Varnville, South Carolina, Betty Lee of St. Louis, Missouri and Joanne Mingo of Buffalo, New York; Two uncles: Joseph Mingo (Rosalin) of Erhardt, South Carolina and Willie James Mingo (Geraldine) of Lexington, South Carolina; Three sisters-in-law: Willie Dell Folks (Arthur), Bernice Raysor (Horace) of Bamberg, South Carolina and Vermell Mingo of Bamberg, South Carolina; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and Friends.
