Obituary
Ms. Lorraine Romey transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, November 25, 2019. Lorraine was born to Mr. James Romey and the late Martha Capers-Romey on September 4, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York.
Lorraine was educated through the New York City Department of Education. In I980, Lorraine graduated from South Shore High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Medgar Evers College and her Master of Art in Specific Learning Disabilities from Nova Southeastern University. Lorraine was in of pursuit her Doctorate in Education.
At the age of 23, Lorraine moved to Miami, Florida with her parents. While in Miami, Lorraine worked as a Head Start Teacher and Disability/Mental Health Specialist. In 2008, Lorraine relocated to Maryland where she was employed as an Instructional Specialist and subsequently, Director of a Head Start.
Lorraine was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Brownsville and Peaceful Zion MBC in Miami.
Lorraine joins her mother, Martha and grandparents in heavenly rest.
However, she leaves to cherish her memory, her Father, James Romey of Islandton, SC; (2) Maternal aunts: her aunt/godmother, Elizabeth Capers of Brooklyn, NY and Edith Mae Wright (Willie) of Charlotte, NC; (1) Maternal uncle, Deacon Sam Capers (Evangelist Ivory) of Hampton, SC; Paternal aunts and uncles: Ms. Maggie Wiggins, Ms. Rebecca Rains and Ida Mae Romey of Columbia, SC, Katherine Romey of York Pennsylvania, Pauline Johnson (James) of Augusta, GA, Mr. Booker T. Romey, Mr. Hammie Romey (Julia), Mr. Isaac Romey (Loretta) all of Columbia, SC, Robert Lee Romey of York, Pennsylvania; Finally, Lorraine leaves a host of cousins and her godson, Antoine to cherish her memory.
