Louverta Hills Henderson, age 60, of the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina, passed away on Friday (February 17, 2017) at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, South Carolina. She was the beloved wife of Randolph Henderson. “Verta”, as she was affectionately called, was born in Varnville, South Carolina on March 17, 1956. She was the daughter of Mrs. Lillie Bell Robinson Hills and the late Mr. Ivan Hills, Sr.
Louverta grew up in Rozelle, New Jersey and was educated in the public schools of Linden, New Jersey. She was a 1974 graduate of Plainfield High School, Plainfield, New Jersey. Louverta also received a cosmetology degree in New Jersey.
Upon returning to South Carolina, Louverta H. Henderson enrolled in Claflin College, Orangeburg, South Carolina in pursuit of a degree in Special Education. She earned the degree and taught for twenty-three (23) years in the field of Special Education at Wade Hampton High School, Varnville, South Carolina. At Wade Hampton High, she organized the first Wade Hampton High Gospel Choir which is still progressing to this day.
She was a member of Antioch Christian Church, Varnville, South Carolina, and Glad Tiding Chapter No. 48, Order of Eastern Star, Varnville, South Carolina.
In 1976, Louverta was united in marriage to the love of her life, Randolph Henderson. To this union, three children were born.
To cherish her memories are her husband, Randolph Henderson, of the home; (3) Children: Randy Henderson of Savannah, Georgia, Makela Henderson and Casey Henderson, both of Varnville, South Carolina; A grandson reared as a son, Petty Officer 3rd Class, Nasir Pringle of Virginia Beach, Virginia; (12) Grandchildren: LeeShawn Williams, Justin Henderson, Amoni Fripp, Nykeria Henderson, Ziy’kila Henderson, Ryan Henderson, Alisha Williams, Kayden Henderson. Jacarri Henderson, Camyiah Henderson, Jamari Henderson, and Honesty Henderson; Her mother, Mrs. Lillie B.
