Evangelist Vionnia Adams, the beloved daughter of the late Deacon Jasper Dunbar and Mrs. Maggie Ree Williams Dunbar was born April 3, 1938 in Varnville, Hampton County, SC.
On Wednesday morning, April 5, 2017, at Medical University Hospital, Charleston, SC, Vionnia’s Maker called her from earthly toils to rest. Even as our family grieve, we humbly say, Amen.
At an early age, “Vionnia” confessed Christ as Lord and Savior and became a baptized member of Zion Fair Baptist Church, Varnville, SC.
Evangelist Vionnia Adams was educated in the public schools of Hampton County, SC, a graduate of the former North District Training School, Varnville, SC Upon graduation, she relocated to Brooklyn, NY. In New York, “Vionnia” attended schools of higher learning. She became gainfully employed in the education industry, assisting in educating children with learning disabilities.
Evangelist Adams, while in New York, met her soul mate and united in marriage to the late Deacon James Adams, Sr. The Lord blessed this union with two children. She continued her zeal for God and became a member of All People Church Apostolic Faith, NY. It was there that she was called into ministry as an Evangelist.
After the death of her mother and the declining health of her father, Evangelist Vionnia Adams retired from work and returned to her native community of Camp Branch, South Carolina to assist in the care of her father. She restored her membership to Zion Fair Baptist Church, Varnville, SC.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents: Her husband, Deacon James Adams, Sr., A daughter, Toni Brown; A brother, Vern Dunbar; and a sister, Maggie D. Williams.
To mourn her home going and cherish the time we had are: (2) Sons: Smoloskey (Ella Mae) Dunbar, Varnville, S. C. and James Adams, Jr. of Jamaica, NY; (4) Grandchildren: Emanuel Brown of Charlotte, NC, Latoya Minor of Norfolk, VA., Fla., Tristan Adams and Ava Adams, both of Shirley, NY; (1) Great grand; (2) Sisters-in-law; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
