Varnville, South Carolina - Ms. Sara Jane Smith, the daughter of the late Mr. Paul and Mrs. Lydia Green Smith, was born April 12, 1933 in Varnville, South Carolina.  She departed this earthly life Tuesday morning, May 21, 2013, at UniHealth Post-Acute Care of the Low Country located in Estill, South Carolina.  

She attended the former Varnville Colored School of Varnville, South Carolina. At an early age, Ms. Sara Jane Hunt joined the Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina where she served faithful as a member of the Senior Choir until her health failed.

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was one brother, Mr. Tommie Smith, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: A sister Sally [Leon] Allen of Varnville, South Carolina; Reared in the home as her brother, Tommy Smith, Jr. of Varnville, South Carolina;  (2) Sisters-in-law: Maggie Smith and Rosena Lingard, both of Varnville, South Carolina;  A God daughter, Carolyn [Willie] Wesley of Varnville, South Carolina;  Special nieces: Shantae Allen [Corey McCullough] of Columbus, GA, Latoya (Hiliary) Bryant of Fort Washington, MD, Mae Francis Smith, Rosa Campbell, and Ada [CW] Capers, all of Varnville, South Carolina, and Linda (Don) Collins of Savannah, Georgia;  Three nephews: Mark Smith of South Korea, Paul (Regina) Smith of Tampa, Florida, and Robert Smith of Varnville, South Carolina; Devoted cousins: Grace Chamblin, Patsy Thorpe and Horace Green, all of Wilmington, Delaware; Ida Williams, English Collins, and Haiston Green of Varnville, South Carolina; A host of devoted family members and many loving friends, which include Mary Dobson of Hampton, South Carolina and Rose Deloach of Varnville, South Carolina.
