On Tuesday morning, June 11, 2013, our beloved Mr. Hansel Gray was called from labor to reward.   He was born November 30, 1955 to the late Mr. Charlie Gray, Sr. and Mrs. Sylvia Fuller Gray.

As a youth, Hansel Gray accepted Christ and became a baptized member of Second Baptist Church of Brunson, SC.  Along his journey, he would sometimes say…”I do pray”.  “I know the Lord” and “I do know how to talk to Him.”

As a very young man and during adulthood, Hansel was nurtured and cared for, even as a son, by his older brother who was his caregiver and sister-in-law, Mr. Lane and Mrs. Lizzie Gray.

Hansel was a 1974 graduate of the Wade Hampton High School of Varnville, SC.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army from which he retired with an honorable discharge.  While serving his country, Hansel received a number of decorations to include: Expert Qual Badge Rifle and Expert Qual Hand Grenade commendations.

Hansel was known within the community as a respectful individual to all.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are three brothers: Mr. James Frank Gray, Mr. Larry Gray and Mr. Johnnie Youmans, who was reared as a brother.

He leaves cherished memories to his devoted wife of the home, Mrs. Verna Mae Gray; Reared in the home as a daughter and grandson, Ms. Yolanda Daniels and Ms. Brandon Daniels; (3) Brothers: Mr. Lane Gray (Lizzie) of Brunson, SC, Mr. Charlie Gray (Gertie) of Hampton, SC, and Mr. Sidney Gray of Tampa, Fla.; (2) Sisters: Mrs. Ellar Mae Brown (Leroy) and Mrs. Inez Priester (Ike), both of Tampa, Fla.; His father-in-law, Mr. Frank Frazier of Augustine, Fla; (4) Sisters-in-law: Ms. Maryland Gray of Allendale, SC, Ms. Inez Gray of Barnwell, SC, Mrs. Haddie Mae Ritter (Charles) of Allendale, SC and Ms. Jennie Mae Gray of Brunson, SC; (3) Brothers-in-law: Mr. Johnny Carter (Margaret), Mr. Sammie Carter, and Mr. Bobby Carter, all of Allendale, SC; (3) Aunts-in-law: Ms. Rosa Bell Williams, Ms. Frcaires Hoover and Ms. Berlean Walker, all of Allendale, SC; (2) Uncles-in-law: Mr. Estel Williams of PA and Mr. J.
