Melvin Jones, II was born June 17, 1945 to the late Walter Jones and Pearlie Smith-Jones in Gifford, South Carolina.  On Monday, April 15, 2013, our beloved was called to his eternal home at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South Carolina.

Mr. Jones was educated in the Estill Public School System.  His avid love was animals, fixing cars and farming. He generously gave of his vegetables to family and friends.  He was gainfully employed by Benton and Rhodes Logging prior to retirement.

Preceding him in death are his son, Melvin Jones, III; his brother, Samuel Jones; two sisters: Pearlie Allen and Hattie B. Brown; and his first wife, Shirley Jones.

He leaves his cherish memories to his beloved wife: Betty Ruth-Jones of the home; (2) Daughters: Melvina Ruth of the home and Crystal Jones-Butler (Marion) of Blackville, South Carolina; (2) Sons: Kelvin Ruth (Pam) of Hampton, South Carolina and Sedrick Ruth of Augusta, Georgia; (2) Aunts: Beatrice Smith of Leavy, South Carolina and Nell Jones of Jacksonville, North Carolina; (1) Uncle, Arthur Chisolm (Etta Mae) of New Jersey; (10) Sisters-in-law: Betty Moore (Ronnie) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Martha Ann Abrams of Blackville, South Carolina, Reatha Bellmon of Barnwell, South Carolina, Thelma Polizzi of New York, Mary Sabb of Miami, Florida, Georgia Oakes (James) of Augusta, Georgia, Rose Albany, Lucille Forrester, Helen Green and Annie Aiken (Verdell), all of Estill, South Carolina; (4) Brothers-in-law: Henry Sabb (Ora Lee) of Blackville, South Carolina, Ronnie Sabb (Barbara) of Gaston, South Carolina, Linwood Ruth (Cassandra) of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Johnnie L.
