Vincent Kyler Cochran, 59 years of age, was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 5, 1964. He was the son of the late Johnnie L. Cochran and Inez Robinson. In his elementary years, Vincent attended PS 148 in Brooklyn, NY until he was relocated to Varnville SC with his parents and sister. He completed his junior high school education at North District Middle School in Varnville SC while winning awards for writing poetry. Finally, he completed his general academic education at Wade Hampton High, entertaining classmates with his comedic wit, while playing football before graduating from Wade Hampton High School Class of 1982. His parents encouraged the beginning of his good work ethic by encouraging Vincent during his adolescent years to work as a Grit newspaper salesperson. Later, he decided to build revenue by developing a small lawn care clientele. During his high school years, he worked for a department store in Hampton SC and held various retail sales positions. Evolving into a college student by enrolling in the Computer Science program at the University of South Carolina, Salkehatchie. To extend hospitality in his community, he tapped into his mother’s career in Cosmetology by donating Barbering services to family and friends. In 1983, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, ending his assignment in Puerto Rico in 1985. Upon completion of his military assignment, he pursued a career as a Patient Care Technician / Coordinator & Facilitator in the medical field. Working in various locations from GA to SC providing nursing assistance & training for 2 decades. Resolving that career at his final work location: Hampton County Regional Medical Center and earning the nickname – Doc.Vincent had 2 former marriages and no minor children. He is survived by the following: his mother, Inez Robinson, Varnville SC, his sister, Sheila Hawthorne, Marianna FL, his niece, Sade Williams, Columbia SC, his brother-in-law, Lorenza L. Hawthorne, Marianna FL. His paternal family members: Aunt Remell Greene, Virginia, Minnie Smith, New Jersey, Martha Chilsom, Varnville SC and his uncle, Dan Cochran, New Jersey. His maternal family members: Aunt Betty Oliver, Brooklyn NY, Annie Ruth Aiken, Brooklyn NY and Carolyn Robertson, Brooklyn, NY. Countless cousins and other dear relatives. During the pandemic, he was instrumental in the relocation of his mother from Brooklyn NY to reside into his home in Varnville SC. Enjoying one on one time with her reminiscing over homecooked meals and old life stories as only the 2 of them would share. Also, he enjoyed spending time with one of his favorite Auntie’s – Aunt Markie (next door) whom he had great admiration and respect for. His phone time was divided between Aunt Carol, Aunt Annie and Aunt Betty. He loved all of his family members as they loved and respected him. A special thanks goes to all of his friends who were instrumental in supporting him through the most challenging hurdles of his life: Zeke, Howard, Bonnie, Rodney, Wrenoski, Jonas & Brenda, Uncle Dan & Aunt Minnie, Michael G., Claudia, Charlie, & Lamar. His desire was to be most remembered for his retirement career/ legacy which was spent as a dedicated baptized Jehovah’s Witness until his demise. He enjoyed volunteering virtually and or in person while laughing and enjoying quality time with his spiritual family. This was the most important aspect of his life. Although he departed life on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort SC, he spent the final part in his days focused on his spiritual career, in the Hampton congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, in Hampton, SC. In addition, he took the time to share tips with his favorite brother-in-law on how to deal with his little sister while teaching his little sister important life lessons in addition to attending his meetings, assemblies and conventions. His focus was on God’s promises ahead as cited in Revelation 21:4 – And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore, the former things have passed away.
