 Mrs. Emily Jenkins Kelly was born on March 5, 1949 in Hampton County, South Carolina.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. Harry “Buster” Jenkins and Mrs. Audrey Rodd Jenkins. She departed this life on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio.

At an early age, she jointed Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church located in Varnville, South Carolina. She attended the public schools of Hampton County. Emily completed her education in Boston, Massachusetts where she was reared by her brother, Mr. Harold Jenkins and the late Mrs. Dora Mae Jenkins.

Emily was married to Mr. Jacob Reed, Sr. while he was stationed in Massachusetts.  To this union was born two children: Jacob, Jr. and Jennell.  She moved to Mt. Kisco, New York to work with the New York Telephone Company.  She met the love of her life, Samuel Kelly in the early 1970s' and they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and were married in 1980.  To this union, one child was born, Jamela.

She was employed for over thirty (30) years with Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company and later retired.  Emily enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Three brothers preceded her in death: Marion Jenkins, Willie Jenkins and Louis “Sack” Jenkins.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Samuel Kelly; Her children: Jacob (Monica) Reed, Jr., Jennell Minor, and Jamela Kelly; Her grandchildren: Taylor Sayles, Ashley Minor, Jacob Remington, Kiarra and Jaylah Reed, and Jameson Kelly; Two sisters: Maggie Smith and Ethel (Bobby) Ruth, all of Varnville, South Carolina; Five brothers:  Harold (Betty) Jenkins of New Hampshire, James (Marie) Jenkins of Arlington, Virginia, Donald (Parthenia) Jenkins of Tampa, Florida,  Larry Jenkins and Mr. Joseph (Beverly) Jenkins, all of Varnville, South Carolina; A sister-in-law, Frances Singleton of Savannah, Georgia; A special nephew, Harry Jenkins of Varnville, South Carolina, who was reared in the home; A host of loving nieces and nephews; Other relatives and friends.
