Mr. Anthony (“Poupa”) Buckner, 58, son of the late Deacon Bert Buckner and Mrs. Albertha Capers Buckner was born Tuesday, June 14, 1955 in Colleton County, South Carolina.  On Tuesday, February 12, 2014, God called His angel home to eternal rest.

“Poupa”, as he was affectionately known, grew up in Islandton, South Carolina and was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, South Carolina.  At an early age, he became a baptized member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina where he faithfully served the body of Christ as leader of the Male Chorus, Trustee Board Member, Sunday School Superintendent, and Ordained Deacon.

Anthony leaves cherished beautiful memories to his loving wife of seventeen years, Mrs. Darlene Buckner of Islandton, South Carolina; His step-children:  Veverly, Bellamy, and Kris, all of Bamberg, South Carolina,  Velesa and grandson, Elzy Sanders of the home; His brother, Cornelius Buckner (Nancy) of Islandton, South Carolina; (4) Sisters: Minister Carrie Capers (Marion), Mrs. Bertha Davis (Elder James), Evangelist Gloria Morris (Deacon Olden) and Ms. Mary Alice Buckner, all of Islandton, South Carolina; His mother-in-law, Wilhelmina Joe of Bamberg, South Carolina; (2) Sisters-in-law: Beverly Bonaparte (Herman) of Olar, South Carolina and Loretta Smith (Chris) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; (2) Brothers-in-law: Ned Joe (Nita) and Dennis Joe (Alice), all of Bamberg, South Carolina; (2) Aunts:  Earlee  Wrice and  Ella Buckner, both of Islandton, South Carolina; (1) Uncle, Randolph Buckner of St. George, South Carolina; (7) Step-grandchildren;  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
