On Monday night, January 23, 2017, our beloved Mrs. Maggie Heyward Sanders transitioned from earthly labor to reward at her residence in Hampton, South Carolina.  She was born April 9, 1922 to the late Mr. Joe and Mrs. Margaret Capers Heyward.

At an early age, Mrs. Maggie Sanders confessed Christ as Savior and became a baptized member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina.  Her love for Christ led to her devotion in service as a Church Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher, Kitchen Aide Committee person, and anywhere else she was asked to work.

Mrs. Sanders was married for sixty-two years to the late Deacon Mick Sanders.

Her hobbies included: sewing and cooking.  She was a mother to numerous nieces and nephews, which included a niece reared as a daughter, the late Evangelist Ella Mae Henderson.

Mrs. Maggie Sanders was the last of thirteen siblings born to the union of Mr. Joe & Mrs. Margaret Heyward.  One nephew, Martinis Henderson, reared as a son also preceded her in death.

She will be truly missed.

To mourn her home going are nieces and nephews reared as her children: Michelle (DeAntonio) Dennison, Neil (LaWanda) Henderson, Keith (Elizabeth) Henderson, Alicia Henderson, Crystal Henderson, Deontrae Johnson, and Jason J. Scott; A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
