The Obituary
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. On the night of November 7, 2013, at 9:06 p.m., God in His infinite wisdom chose to call our beloved Mother Willie Mae Reid from labor to reward. She expired at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South Carolina while surrounded by her family. She was born May 8, 1930 in Reidsville, Georgia to the late Mr. John Reid and Mrs. Maude Sharpe Reid.
She was educated in the public school system of Hampton County, South Carolina; and at an early age, she became a member of Harmonia Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina. Thereafter, she fellowshipped with numerous other churches in the Hampton County area. Mother Willie Mae Reid was truly a worshipper who did not hinder the presence of the Holy Spirit not only abiding in her but also manifesting Himself through her.
Mother Reid was previously employed by many local establishments as a housekeeper. She also cared for numerous elderly patients.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents are: One grandson, Mr. Charlie Green; Three sisters: Ms. Ruby Brown, Ms. Mary Dunbar, and Ms. Geneva Loadholt; and Two brothers: Mr. Solomon Reid and Mr. John Lee Reid.
Precious memories will be forever cherished by her children: Ms. Bobby Jean Reid of the home; Ms. Lovely Mae Reid of Varnville, South Carolina, Ms. Mary Louise Pringle and Mr. Thomas Reid, both of Yemassee, South Carolina, Mr. Lazarus Reid of Early Branch, South Carolina and Deacon Johnny Reid (Elizabeth) of Varnville, South Carolina; (20) Grand children; (49) Great grand children; (3) Great great grand children; (2) Sisters: Ms. Viola Frazier of Varnville, South Carolina and Ms. Bessie Lee Williams of New York; (3) Brothers: Mr. Sam Lee Reid of Augusta, Georgia, Mr. Willie T. Reid of Bennettsville, South Carolina and Mr. Hardy Reid of New York; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and sympathizing friends.
