On Monday, February 1, 2021, Jim Eddie Coker received the summon of death while inpatient at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South Carolina. Born March 13, 1934, he was a son of the late Deacon Richard Coker and Mrs. Emma Lee Henderson Coker.
As a young man, “Jim Eddie” joined Harmonia Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina.
He was educated in the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina. Jim Eddie enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for four years. He was honorably discharged from service in 1956.
After completion of military service, he became gainfully employed by the former Dupont Company, Savannah River Site, of Aiken, South Carolina for forty-one years.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife Lorine Dobson Coker; and five siblings: Annabelle Coker, Virginia Jackson, Josie Hodges, Gussie Mae Coker and Howard Coker.
To mourn his homegoing yet cherish fond memories are: His wife, Minister Beatrice Coker of Fairfax, South Carolina; His children: Minister Bobby Collins (Lucia) of Varnville, South Carolina, Jacquelyn Allen (Pearlstine) of Barnwell, South Carolina, Cora Morgan (Ronnie) of Fairfax, South Carolina and Eddie Jerome Coker (Aretha) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Two sisters: Willa Dell Coker of Bronx, New York and Maretress Anthony of Brooklyn, New York; Six grandchildren: Terri Allen of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Deion Allen of Silver Springs, Maryland, Patrick Morgan of Fairfax, South Carolina, Jennifer Johnson (Travis) of Barnwell, South Carolina, Lauren Coker of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Michael Allen (Amber) of Aiken, South Carolina; One great grandson, Damontren Morgan of Fairfax, South Carolina.
Jim Eddie also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
