A Life We Cherish and Will Remember

Evangelist Ella Mae Woods, 74, of the Sandridge Community of Varnville, South Carolina died on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Houston Medical Center, Warner Robbins, Georgia.  She was born May 13, 1946 in Hampton, South Carolina to the late Mr. Matthew Campbell, Jr. and Mrs. Majorie Lingard Campbell.

Evangelist Woods was educated in the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina, the former North District Training School.  Upon graduation, she relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she was employed in the judicial system as a court clerk.  After a few years, Evangelist Woods and the family returned to her native home in Varnville, South Carolina, working at the Hampton Golf Court, Hampton, South Carolina and subsequently became self-employed, operating Woods Trucking Company of Varnville. 

At an early age, she joined the congregation at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina.  Thereafter she became a member of Lively Stone Temple Apostolic Church, Islandton, South Carolina. 

She was married to the late Mr. Virgil Lee Woods. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Ella was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Louise Patterson and Mrs. Janie Duckett; and two brothers, Mr. Marvin Campbell and Deacon John Campbell. 

To mourn his home-going are her children: Anthony Lewis (Dana) of Warner Robbins, Ga, Dirick Lewis of Savannah, Ga., and Travis Lewis of Warner Robbins, Ga.; (9) Grandchildren; (9) Great grandchildren;  Her siblings: Edith Campbell of Brooklyn, New York, Clara Campbell of Yemassee, South Carolina, Diane Campbell of Savannah, Georgia, Terry Jones of Walterboro, South Carolina, Frankie Campbell (Angie) of Varnville, South Carolina,  Larry Campbell (Johnette) of Varnville, South Carolina, and Lester Campbell of  Brooklyn, New York; One aunt, Myrtis Lingard of Varnville, South Carolina; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
