On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, Carrie “Earlee” Buckner Rice was called from labor to reward at Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina.  She was born on January 15, 1924 in Islandton, SC, as one of 17 children to the late Mr. Herbert and Mrs. Viola Buckner. 

Mother Earlee, at a young age, joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina. She served in several capacities to include: a member of the Missionary Board, Church Clerk, member of the Senior Choir, and the Mother of the Church.

The joys of her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Glad Tidings Chapter #48, Order of Eastern Star, Varnville, South Carolina.

Mother Earlee was married to the late George Rice. The Lord blessed their union with 5 children. She was the last aunt for several nieces and nephews, and a mother to many.

Sixteen siblings preceded her in death.

To cherish her memories are her (5) Children: Clarence (Janice) Rice, Varnville, South Carolina, Clara (Deacon Allen) Williams, Early Branch, South Carolina, Verlinda (Jerome) Mosley, Smoaks, South Carolina, Richard (Pandrea) Wrice, Varnville, South Carolina, and Quintone (Marilyn) Rice, Walterboro, South Carolina. From the union of their children were born: (13) Grandchildren, (9) Great-Grandchildren and (2) Great-Great Grandchildren. (5) Sisters-in-law; A host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends. A special thanks to her nephew Ronald Buckner and Caregiver, Mrs. Betty Elliott.
