Clara Williams, a daughter of the late George Rice and Earlee Rice was born on July 9, 1951, Islandton, SC. A native of the Islandton Community, she attended Colleton County Schools. She was a graduate of Ruffin High School, Ruffin, SC, Class of 1970. She later attended Brevard Community College, Brevard, FLA.
Clara was reared in a Christian home and loved the Lord. Early in life, she was baptized and united with Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, SC.
On February 24, 1973, Clara, was joined in holy matrimony with her best friend and love, Allen Williams. This beautiful union of forty-seven years was blessed with two children: their son, Romeo A. Williams (Sylvia) of Augusta GA, and daughter, Clervett Williams of Hampton, VA.
Clara severed as church secretary for over twenty years. She was a faithful member of the Missionary Board where she also served as the secretary. She was employed by Hampton School District One, from which she retired in 2015. She was also a member of the Allendale County Retired Educators Association.
Over the past forty-seven years, Clara and Allen enjoyed life together near and far. They traveled the world and enjoyed the journey of life and matrimony. A well-lived life, she enjoyed her family, friends, fishing, and caring for her pets.
Clara was a loving person, who cared for everyone. She always placed everyone else before herself. In the past years, she has demonstrated strength and an epitome of “a virtuous woman”. She was definitely a woman after God’s heart. She spent her time assisting food banks, donating to those in need and simply being a loving, nonjudgmental ear, for whomever sought her counsel. None of her life experiences are equivalent to the time she was able to spend with her beloved grandson, “her heartstring”, Romeo.
She constantly reminded her children of her motto. “I always treat people right, because I never know how I am going to leave here”. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Earlee Rice; and her brother, Quintone Rice.
Clara was called from this world to rest in God’s care on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC.
