The Obituary

Ms. Marie Wilson Wright was born on March 24, 1936, in Hampton, South Carolina, to the late Dollie M. Cohen and Lonnie Wilson. She entered peaceful rest on Sunday, March 2, 2025. 

Marie attended the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina. Early in life, she acknowledged Christ and became a member of Antioch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, located in Varnville, South Carolina. 

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Elmer Wright who preceded her in death. Also journeying before her were her parents and one son, Melvin Cohen. 

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her son, Deacon Lonnie (Barbara) Grant of Hampton, South Carolina; One sister, Mary Frances (Robert) McKnight of Varnville, South Carolina; Two stepsisters: Lula Mae Johnson of Adell Georgia, and Rosa M. Swinton of Ridgeland, South Carolina; One brother, Robert L Singleton of Estill, South Carolina.  She also leaves precious memories to a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins (which includes special cousins: Aletha Jones of Estill, South Carolina, Nerva Haynes and Ethel Priester, both of Varnville, South Carolina), and many loving friends of the family.
