The Obituary
Raymond Williams, Sr., affectionately called “One Time,” was the son of the late Grover William Terry and Ada Williams. He was born on December 16, 1951, in Varnville, Hampton County, South Carolina. Raymond transitioned from life, as we know it, to death on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Syracuse, New York.
Raymond, reared in the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina, received his formal education from the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina.
He was a member of Harmonia Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina.
Prior to relocating to Syracuse, New York, he was gainfully employed by the former Westinghouse Micarta Division of Hampton, South Carolina for many years. Seeking greater opportunities, he relocated to Syracuse, New York. It was there that Raymond worked as a construction worker.
The joys of his life were watching western programs on television as well as adding humor to the lives of those he encountered.
To remember him and cherish his memories are (5) children: Raymond Williams, Jr. of Walterboro, South Carolina, Tatanishia Williams, Sharee Wilson, Lee Wilson, and Monty Wilson, all of Hampton, South Carolina; A stepdaughter, Keshia W. Fennell of the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina; His significant other, Tammy Ogletree of Syracuse, New York; (2) Sisters: Karen Ann Williams of the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina, and Abbie (Joe Neil) Womack of Evans, Georgia; Reared in the home as brother and sister were Ricky Williams and Sylvia (Willie) Stokes, all of the Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina; (3) Aunts: Evelina Terry (whom Raymond loved as a mother) of Syracuse, New York, Ethel Lee Johnson of Williston, South Carolina, Dolly Mae Williams of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Esther Terry of Early Branch, South Carolina; (2) Great Aunts: Missionary Emma Wright of Varnville, South Carolina, and Mary Wright of Jacksonville, Florida; (12) Grandchildren; (12) Great Grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends (which includes Miquan Everson who honored Raymond as his uncle).
