Mrs. Betty L. Lee was the daughter of the late Mr. Hammie L. Moore and Mrs. Desser L. Moore-Henderson-Council. She was born October 27, 1934 in Hampton County, South Carolina. Betty entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2026.
She was educated by the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina. From a young age, she had a natural flair for creativity and an ability to make others feel beautiful. This led to her life long career in hair styling. She was a true artist; more than just a hair stylist, she was a cherished confidante to a loyal clientele, sharing in life's joys and sorrows with a listening ear and a warm heart. If you knew Betty, she was always dressed from head to toe!
She eventually retired as a hair stylist in East St. Louis. Betty loved making quilts to share with others, keeping them warm during those cold winter nights. She became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Centerville, Illinois where she was a faithful member until her health failed.
She was united in Holy Matrimony on December 4, 1977 to Mr. John R. Lee who preceded her in death on February 14, 1999. To this union, no children were born.
To cherish fond memories are: her beloved son, Willie Hickson; (2) Grandchildren: Samantha Green of Mobile, Alabama and Treven Hickson of Centerville, Illinois; (1) Godson, Bernard C.J. "Sugarman" Hoffman of Centerville, Illiois; (1) Sister, Pauline Davis of Varnville, South Carolina; (2) Sisters-in-law: Polly Moore and Betty Henderson, both of Varnville, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, great-grands' other relatives and friends.
