On Sunday, October 29, 2017, while at Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina, Robert (Bobby) Cleveland Nelson received his summon from life to reward.

Born on July 5, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the only child born to Mrs. Helen Nelson and the late Mr. William (Billy) Nelson.

Bobby Nelson was affectionately known as "Tanqueray", "Bump", and "Chiim".  He was extremely talented as a bass guitarist and D.J., just to name a few.  He spent many enjoyable days on Sterling Place (his residence in Brooklyn, New York), playing and spinning records and entertaining the neighborhood.

Before relocating to Hampton County, South Carolina, Bobby held many jobs while living in New York.

He leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life: (1) son, Robert Kenyatta Nelson of Varnville, South Carolina; (1) grandson, Markiane Ahmed Anderson of Killeen Texas; his mother, Mrs. Helen Nelson, of Varnville, South Carolina; an aunt, Pearl McGill of Varnville, South Carolina; devoted family friends, Barbara Vanterpool of New York City, New York and Priscilla Pelzer of Orangeburg; A host of other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
