Mr. Vernon Buckner, the son of the late Lloyd Buckner and Jessie Lee Buckner was born on December 6, 1953 in Islandton, SC.

Growing up, Vernon attended Colleton County Schools and graduated a proud Patriot from Ruffin High School in 1971. He furthered his education by attending Voorhees College in Denmark, SC. Vernon was an avid sports lover. His passion for sports was so deep that he coached the Ruffin “Baby Pats” youth football team voluntarily. He was known as Coach “Bum Phillips”.  After 17 years of coaching, he gained a love for car painting. He painted cars until his health began to fail.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, Vernon quietly entered eternal rest at home. His father, Lloyd Buckner; brother, Ronald Buckner, and grandparents: Ethel Inabinett, Eddie and Jestine Buckner preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memories are: His mother, Jessie Buckner of Islandton, SC; His siblings: Barbara Harley, Brenda Cobbs, and Terease Buckner, all of Islandton, SC, and Erica Pinckney of Charlotte, NC; A devoted stepson, Jermaine Glover and step-grandson, Jaquis Glover; Nieces: Jessica Harley, Jasmyne Harley, Terlandra Buckner, Keyondra Fryar, Kamora Ford, and Kadence Eleazer, all of Islandton SC, and Madison Harley of Walterboro, SC; Nephews: Ericko Harley of Islandton, SC, Travele Harley, Darrell Harley, Ericko Harley Jr, and Travele Harley Jr. all of Walterboro, SC and Zaelen Pinckney of Charlotte, NC; His caregiver, Maelynn Haynes of Islandton, SC; A host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
