The Life of Earnell Washington
On Monday, March 5, 2018, at WJ Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia, South Carolina, God in His infinite wisdom called our dearly beloved Earnell Washington. Earnell was born October 28, 1947, one of eleven siblings, to the late Deacon Ernest I. Washington, Sr. and Mrs. Maggie R. Washington. He was born in Blackville, Barnwell County, South Carolina.
As a young man, Earnell became a baptized member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Blackville, South Carolina. At Macedonia, he served as a member of the Pastor's Aide Ministry, the Macedonia Male Chorus, and most recently a member of the Macedonia Trustee Board. In the community, he participated and sang on the former Blackville Community Choir.
Earnell was a 1967 graduate of the former Macedonia High School of Blackville, South Carolina. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. This was during the Vietnam War. He was a loyal soldier to his country, serving in active duty for four (4) years, after which receiving an honorable discharge and for an additional fourteen years (14) in the United States Army Reserve.
He was previously employed by Shuron Inc. of Barnwell, South Carolina, Ducan Company of Blackville, South Carolina, and Bechtel Company of Savannah River Site, all of which before becoming disabled.
Preceding Earnell in death, in addition to his parents, was his twin brother Pernell Washington.
To carry on his legacy and mourn his home going is his wife, Mrs. Ethel Washington of the home; (3) Children: Tiwan Washington and Terrance Washington, both of Blackville, South Carolina and Chant'e Washington of Swansea, South Carolina; (4) Grandchildren: Quincy, Trinity, and Ja'dir Washington, and Erian Jones; His sisters and brothers: Ms. Emma R. Davis, Mrs. Cheryl (Sammie) Williams, Ms. Beverly A. Washington, Ms. Cynthia D. Washington, Mrs. Tania T. (Herbert) Smalls, Mrs. Shirley A. (Lonnie) Reid and Mr. Ernest I. Washington, Jr., all of Blackville, South Carolina and Mr. Gerald (Elizabeth) Washington and Ms. Nancy Washington, all of California; (4) Aunts: Ms. Joan Hayes of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Ms. Dorothy Washington of Estill, South Carolina, Ms. Gloria Washington of Blackville, South Carolina, and Ms. Dorothy Shepherd of Augusta, Georgia; (1) Uncle, Deacon Dan Price of Barnwell, South Carolina; (4) Sisters-in-law: Ms. Carrie James of Wilmington, Delaware, Mrs. Dorothy (David) Abney of Monetta, South Carolina, Ms. Patricia Wingard and Ms. Michele Guinyard, both of Springfield, South Carolina; A brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Gadsen; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends, which includes special friends Alleitha Williams and Sammie Savage.
