The Obituary

Mother Ella Mae Goodwin, the daughter of the late Mr. Josiah and Bertha Williams, was born on December 5, 1924, in Ashton, South Carolina.  She was called home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2018 at Augusta Medical University, Augusta, Georgia. 

Mother Ella Mae was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, South Carolina.  At an early age, she joined Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. 

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Sammie Goodwin. 

After relocating to New York, she became employed by Leviton Electric Manufacturing Company, working there for many years until her retirement.  Mother Ella Mae Goodwin joined and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New York.  She served faithfully until her health began to fail.  She was also a long time member of the Order of Easter Star, Prince Hall Affiliation.

 

She leaves to mourn her passing and share her memories one devoted son, Mr. Orgie Williams of Varnville, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Rosemary Williams preceded her in death;  Grandchildren: Tammy Williams of Brooklyn, New York; Sherry Williams of Uniondale, New York, Orgie Williams, Jr. of Aiken, South Carolina, and Erika Brown (Patrick) of Aiken, South Carolina; Great grandchildren: Damien and Demetrius of Uniondale, New York, Latifah Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, Audra Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, Patrick Brown, Jr. and Mackenzie Brown, both of Aiken, South Carolina; Sisters-in-law: Louetta Williams of Greensboro, North Carolina, Amelia Williams of Brooklyn, New York, and Patricia Williams of Charleston, South Carolina; A very special family friend of Mother Ella Mae Goodwin and Orgie, Sr., Linda Smalls, of the home in Varnville, South Carolina; A host of other relatives and friends, which includes the staff of C&S Assisted Living in Allendale, South Carolina.
