THE OBITUARY
Levy Williams, age 68, of Newark, New Jersey, passed away February 2018. Levy, the youngest son of the late Charlie and Laura Williams, was born on March 1, 1949 and educated in Colleton County. He joined the United States Marine Corps and faithfully served during the Vietnam War. In addition, Levy received a Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science degrees in Accounting from Saint Peter’s College and Essex County College, respectively. Always aspiring for excellence in whatever he pursued, he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of New Jersey. Levy had a long and successful career in the accounting and finance fields, having held senior management positions, including serving as the Principal and Founder of his own accounting firm.
He was active in civic and community affairs, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Newark New Jersey, along with serving as a volunteer for the free lunch program at Messiah Baptist Church, East Orange, New Jersey, and as a member of the Board of Directors for Day Nurseries, Montclair, New Jersey. Furthermore, he enjoyed collecting antique cars.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Everine Capers, Howard Williams, Lillie Mae Brown, and Cleveland Williams.
Levy was the beloved father of Dorethea Williams of Newark, New Jersey; a devoted brother to Hurie Williams of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Tobica Williams of Brooklyn, New York, and Peggy Williams of Abington, Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law: Queen Williams of Varnville, South Carolina, and Erma Williams of Hampton, South Carolina, a special friend to Jeannette Stroy of Columbia, South Carolina; a loving uncle to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sympathizing friends.
