Minister Carolyn Garvin-Lopez, 71, was summoned from labor to rest on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL. She was born February 3, 1947 to Mrs. Charlotte DeLoach Garvin and the late Mr. Aaron Garvin, Sr. 

She was a graduate of Pueblo Central High School, Pueblo, CO.  Upon completion of her secondary education, Minister Carolyn Garvin-Lopez enrolled in the University of Miami.  She was awarded an Associate of Arts Degree.

She had been gainfully employed as a legal secretary in the Public Defender’s Office of Miami, FL. as well as the Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Minister Carolyn Garvin-Lopez returned to her native town of Pineland, SC.  Upon confession of Christ, she became a baptized member of Second Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, Pineland, SC.  Serving the body of Christ at Second Thankful, she organized the STBC (Second Thankful Baptist Church) Missionary Outreach in Estill, SC and the Allendale Nursing Home.  She also organized the Second Thankful Missionary Baptist Church Youth Choir.

She attended ministry school at Bethel Baptist in Ridgeland, SC and other schools of ministry. Minister Carolyn Garvin-Lopez was commissioned to preach the gospel; and her initial sermon was preached at Second Thankful Missionary Baptist Church on May 11, 1999.  In Jacksonville, FL. she also attended Titus Harvest Dome Spectrum, under the leadership of Apostle R.J. Washington.

Minister Garvin-Lopez loved sewing, cooking, and reading. She was married to the late Mr. Charles A. Lopez; to this union was born three children: Carlos, Chaslyn, and Caeleb.

She will be fondly missed by her family and those who knew her.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by one sister, Virginia Ann Garvin and one brother, John Charles Garvin.

As a legacy to her family, she leaves her memories to:  Her daughter, Chaslyn Vanderburgh (Jorge, Sr.) of Jacksonville, FL; Two sons: Mr. Caeleb Lopez of Jacksonville, FL and Mr. Carlos Lopez of CA; Eight grandchildren: Armani Lopez, Layla Lopez, Isabella Lopez, Cortez Lopez, Jorge Vanderburgh, Jr., Jordan Vanderburgh, Jonathan Vanderburgh, and Ariana Vanderburgh; Her mother, Mrs. Charlotte Garvin of Pineland, SC; Two sisters: Ms. Lottie B. Garvin and Ms. Vernetta Garvin, both of Pineland, SC; Four brothers: Mr. Aaron Garvin, Jr. of Denver, CO, Mr. Cary Garvin (Verna L.) of Pineland, SC, Mr. Frederick Garvin of AZ, and Mr. Johnny Ray Garvin of NJ; One aunt: Mrs. Rebecca Ready of Pineland, SC; One uncle, Mr. Edward Garvin of Macon, GA; Her sisters and brothers-in-law of  FL; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
