The Obituary

Willie Thomas Stokes was born on October 18, 1938 to the late Ernest and Pearline Stokes of Estill, South Carolina. After graduating from high school, Mr. Stokes enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served for six years. After his Army service, Mr. Stokes returned to Hampton County where he met his lovely wife of 46 years, Alice. 

Mr. Stokes worked for Milliken of Barnwell, South Carolina, Red and White of Ridgeland, South Carolina and multiple places in Hampton County to include: Winn Dixie, Bi-Lo, Super Dooper, and the Shell Station. He was an active Deacon at Good Hope Baptist Church in Estill until his health declined.  

Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Pearline Stokes; and his siblings Ernestine Stokes, Charlie Stokes, and Jessie Stokes. 

Mr. Stokes was a hard worker, dedicated husband and father. He enjoyed watching westerns, going for walks, going to Lake Warren, and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include; his wife Alice, three children: Derek Stokes and Sandra Stokes of Hampton, South Carolina, and, Annette Gunnells (Stephen) of Barnwell, South Carolina; Six grandchildren: Shaw'na, Christopher, Lola, Trevor, Jesse, Blake, and Thomas; Two great grandchildren: Karter and Kaiden.  Other relatives and friends.
