Islandton, South Carolina -  Mr. James Bender departed this life on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, South Carolina.  He was born in Miami, Florida, the son of the late Mr. Lincoln and Mrs. Mary Bender.

James attended school in Miami Dade County Public Schools and was employed with Rose Septic Tank Company of Miami, Florida for several years.  He later relocated to South Carolina where he joined Toby's United Methodist Church of Islandton, South Carolina.  James served the body of Christ until his health became impaired.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  A son, Mr. Tavaris Victor Bender of Miami, Florida, Two grandsons:  Tavaris Bender, Jr. and Tremaine Bender, both of Miami, Florida; One grand daughter, Alexis Victor of Miami, Florida; His aunts: Mrs. Martha Romey (Mr. James) of Islandton, South Carolina, Ms. Elizabeth Capers of Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Edith Wright (Mr. Willie) of Bronx, New York, Ms. Willa Dean Bender of Miami, Florida, Ms. Ruth Helen Williamson of Lockport, Illinois and Mrs. Cleo Hamilton (Mrs. Dillard) of Louin, Mississippi; His uncles: Mr. Verdell Bender (Mrs. Shirley) of Miami, Florida and Deacon Sam Capers (Evangelist Iva) of Hampton, South Carolina; Grand aunts: Ms. Annie Clara Capers of Hialiah, Florida, Ms. Earlee Wrice and Ms. Ella Hue Buckner, both of Islandton, South Carolina; A host of cousins and friends who will celebrate James's life.
