Mother Mary Marie Jenkins was born in Hampton County, South Carolina, on September 26, 1947 to the late Mr. Charles and Mrs. Lil Cohen. She departed this life on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, South Carolina.
Mother Jenkins was educated a 1965 graduate of the former North District Training School, Varnville, South Carolina.
She was a member of Saint Annie New Church of Christ, Varnville, South Carolina. Mother Jenkins was baptized in Jesus name (Acts 2:38) and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. At Saint Annie, she served faithfully as Head Usher for many years until her declining health prevented her from doing so in this position.

One brother and three sisters preceded her in death.
To forever cherish her memories are her loving husband of fifty-one years, Deacon Melvin Jenkins, Sr. of the home; (2) Devoted daughters: Mrs. Clarissa Geddis (Willard) of Hampton, South Carolina and Mrs. Kimberly Williams (Deondra) of Kingsland, Georgia; (1) Devoted son, Mr. Alvin Jenkins, Jr. (Daphne) of Seattle, Washington; (9) Grandchildren: Alyssia Williams, Deondre Williams, Jazmine Williams, Kaniya Coleman, Kayla Jenkins, Kingston Geddis, Daisha Wright, Morgan Bester, and Shanice Cordel; (2) Loving adopted daughters: Evangelist Tonya McQuire of Beaufort, South Carolina and Ms. Crystal Collins of Varnville, South Carolina; Loved as sisters: Mrs. Retha Mae McQuire and Evangelist Elise S. McQuire (Angus), and Ms. Vera Campbell, all of Varnville, South Carolina; Loved as a brother, Mr. Jerome Smith (Cora), of Columbia, South Carolina; A beloved brother-in-law, Minister Jay Lee Jenkins of Varnville, South Carolina; Devoted nieces: Ms. Allean Collins, Ms. Deloris Collins, Ms. Millie Collins, Ms. Fredrica Dunbar, Mrs. Barbara Gilbert and Mrs. Joanne Green, all of Varnville, South Carolina; Devoted nephews: Mr. Daniel Collins (Kim), Mr. Charles Cohen, Mr. Charlie Cohen (Elaine), and Mr. Ricky Collins (Marilyn); May May’s extended children: Mrs. Bessie Morris of Varnville, South Carolina, Mr. David Green and Patricia Green, both of Allendale, South Carolina, Mr. Clarence Harris (Ajetta), Mr. Kenneth Harris, and Mr. Daryl Harris, all of Varnville, South Caroilna and Ms. Erica Warren of Early Branch, South Carolina; Beloved extended family: Mrs. Helen Cook, Mr. Greg and Mrs. Lynn Cook, Mr. Todd and Mrs. Lynn Cook, Mrs. Tracey Wall (Jason), and Ms. Rebecca Cook; Her god-children: Mr. Alexander Campbell (Tasha), Mr. Kevin Grant (Nicole) and Mrs. Tina Crittington (Eugene); Loving cherished friends: Evangelist Elizabeth Smith and Evangelist Judy Stewart (Luther); A host of grand nieces, grand nephews, other relatives and loving friends.
