Mr. Greely Stokes, Jr., 83, the son of the late Mr. Greely Stokes, Sr. and Mrs. Lucille Busby Stokes was born November 4, 1939, in Hampton County, South Carolina. He transitioned from life as we know it on Friday, June 2, 2023. At an early age, Mr. Greely Stokes, Jr. joined and attended Good Hope Baptist Church, Estill, South Carolina. He later joined Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hampton, South Carolina. He was educated in the Public School System of Hampton County, South Carolina. He was employed by the former Hampton County Bank of Varnville, South Carolina and the Jasper County Department of Public Transportation, where he worked for many years. “Greely”, as he was affectionately known, will be remembered for his long conversations. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Carolyn Rice Stokes; and three children: Shirley D. Stokes, Terry Stokes, and Ronnie Stokes. He leaves to cherish fond memories two sons: Mr. Willie (Sylvia) Stokes of Varnville, South Carolina and Len (Felicia) Stokes of Atlanta, Georgia; Reared in the home as a son, Mr. Toby Smart of Nixville, South Carolina; One step-son, Rodell (Lakerya) Rice of Cocoa, Florida; Three step-daughters: Mrs. Felecia (Deacon Johnny) Reid of Fairfax, South Carolina, Mrs. Karen Rice Gibson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mrs. Charmaine (McKever) Rice Russell of Atlanta, Georgia; A daughter-in-law, Mrs. Carol Stokes of Hampton, South Carolina; Twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
