The Obituary

"Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap,
if we do not give up". Galatians 6:9

Ms. Sarah Lee Gardner was born, December 11, 1949, in Hampton County, South Carolina to the late Willie (Bill) and the late Irene Williams Gardner. At an early age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Brunson, South Carolina where she served faithfully as an active and dedicated member until she relocated to New York in 1967.

Sarah began her educational journey in public school at the historic Gifford Rosenwald School and ended as a 1967 graduate of the former Estill Training School, Estill, South Carolina. She continued her education by receiving an associate degree from Brooklyn College.

Sarah had a warm, generous spirit, and opened her home and heart to many people with unconditional love. Sarah loved to cook and shared many meals with family and friends.

For 35 years, Sarah was employed with the Chase Manhattan Bank – JP Morgan Banking System in International Global Customs. She was later employed part-time with the Center for Community Alternatives as a faith-based community liaison.

While in Brooklyn, Sarah worshipped with the First Baptist Church of Crown Heights. She served faithfully on the Rephidim Ministry, New Members Ministry, Cancer Ministry, South Carolina Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Senior Ministry, and Sunday School.

On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Sarah entered peacefully into eternal rest.

Sarah leaves to cherish her memories, a sister Mae Etta (Johnny) Allen of Brunson, South Carolina; a niece, Gianna S. (Warren) Robinson of Columbia, South Carolina; Four nephews: Henry McArthur Hudson, Jr. of Ulmer, South Carolina, Gardner O. Allen of Pooler, Georgia, Gary O.
