South Carolina - Funeral service for Mother Edna Jennie Gordon, 105, of 370
Morrison Avenue will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011, 1:00 P.M. at 1st
Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, Estill, South Carolina. Interment will follow in 1st Thankful Church Cemetery. Pastor Robert Johnson will be
officiating.
The
family will receive friends at the home of her daughters, Ms. Betty Major, 1635
Cypress Creek Road, Pineland and Ms. Mary Mickel, 370 Morrison Avenue, Estill,
South Carolina. Visitation will be at
the funeral home on Friday evening, October 7, 2011 from 6-7:00 p.m.

Funeral Home of Hampton has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
God honored the life of our beloved, Mother
Edna Jennie Gordon, with 105 years. She was born in Nixville, South Carolina on August 1, 1906, a
daughter of the late Mr. John Gordon and Mrs. Florrie DeLoach Gordon. She was called from earth’s toils to rest on
Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South
Carolina.
Mother
Gordon was educated by the public schools of Hampton County, South
Carolina. At an early age, she became a
baptized member of 1st Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, Estill,
South Carolina. There, she served
diligently and faithfully until the decline of her health. She was also a member of Thankful Chapter No. 103, Order of
the Eastern Star.
She
was a united in marriage to the late Mr. Abraham Tucker Gordon; this union was blessed with eight (8)
children. Mother Edna Jennie Gordon was a dutiful wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver.
Preceding
her in death, in addition to her parents, are four (4) siblings: Mr. John K.
Gordon, Ms. Flossie Alberta Gordon, Mr. John Tucker Gordon and Mr. Melvon
Gordon.
To
cherish loving memories are four daughters:
Ms. Betty Major of Pineland, South Carolina, Ms. Mary Etta Mickel of Estill,
South Carolina, Ms. Mamie Martin of Greenville, South Carolina and Ms. Retha Mae
Hort of Atlanta, Georgia; 54
Grandchildren, which includes a special grandson, Calvin Gordon; 95 Great
Grandchildren; 69 Great Great Grandchildren; Numerous nieces, nephews
(including a special nephew, Mr. Ron Wallace), other relatives and friends.
