Mother Alice Capers
Early Branch, South Carolina  -  Funeral service for Mrs. Alice C. Capers, 85, of 152 Porter Road will be held Sunday, May 6, 2012, 3:00 P.M. at New Castle Baptist Church, Pineland, South Carolina.  Committal, interment and benediction will be conducted in Jerusalem Cemetery of Early Branch. 
 
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, May 5, 2012,  from 6-8:00 P.M. in the chapel of Washington's Funeral Home.  Washington's Funeral Home of Hampton is assisting the family with final arrangements. 
  
Mrs. Alice Carnelia (Jenkins) Capers departed this life on Wednesday, May 02, 2012 after an extended illness.  Mrs. Capers was born September 19, 1926 in Jasper County, SC.  to the late Wilson and Minnie (Orr) Jenkins.  All of her siblings preceded her in death, Wesley (Bo) Jenkins, Seab Wilson Jenkins, Idell Jenkins, Harold Jenkins and Norris Walker.
 
Mrs. Capers was educated in the Jasper County public school system.   At an early age she joined the New Castle Baptist Church and for many years was an active member of the New Castle Combined Choir.
 
In 1949, She married the late Mr. Jeffery Capers  and this union was blessed with five children:  Mr. Jeffery Lee Capers (Sevel), Mr. Carnell Capers (Josephine) all of Cummings SC, Mr. Donelle Capers (Cathy) of Harrisburg NC, Ms. Deloris Newton of Carolina Oaks, Varnville SC, Mrs. Mary Alice Newton ( Kenyon) of Nixville SC.  She also leaves to cherish her memory, 15 Grand Children- one of whom was raised in the home, Ponzella Wilson Black and 22 Great-Grand children. Remembering her also are three Sisters-In-Law, Mrs. Albertha Hosendove of Cummings, SC, Mrs. Carmen Jenkins-Madden, Kansas City MO., Mrs. Ernestine Walker, Trenton NJ, one Brother–In-Law, Mr. Herbert Leon Capers, Cummings SC.  A host of nieces, nephews and cousins to include a devoted first cousin, Mr. Charlie Orr.  
 
Mrs. Capers was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.
